Background
The Sake Fair was one of YATA Limited’s highlight events in 2020. As the lead designer, I developed the theme centred around Japanese sake and created all event materials, including store POPs, brochures, and an interactive website design.
Design Period
Design Concept: 2 Days
Design & Adaptation: 8 Days
UI Design: 4 Days
Design Concept.
My design concept is centered around sake, aiming to capture the intricate brewing process and the profound essence of Japanese culture. Inspired by the art of sake-making, I have incorporated the delicate texture of Japanese rice and outlined the contours of a traditional Japanese garden.
The water droplet element in the design not only symbolizes the refinement of sake but also represents the passage of time and the crucial role of water in the brewing process. Various sake vessels highlight Japan’s dedication to the art of tasting, bringing out the most subtle nuances of flavor. I use flowing lines to express the aroma of sake, adding a sense of movement and depth to the composition.
The overall design seeks to offer a refreshing visual experience while showcasing the richness and allure of Japanese sake culture.

Typography.
I chose a clean and elegant sans-serif typeface, incorporating the fluidity of water to create curves and variations. The design also features sugidama—the cedar ball traditionally hung in front of Japanese breweries—to symbolize the freshness and quality of the sake. The transparency of the typeface reflects the purity and clarity of the sake, evoking a sense of lightness and translucency.

Interactive Website Design.
To provide a deeper understanding of Japanese sake, we have designed an “AI” system, selects 21 distinctive sakes from various prefectures in Japan. Through a simple 5-minute test, it identifies the sake that best suits each individual.
